MARTHA SANCHEZ

Cartagena born and based, Martha Sanchez transmits the tropical sensuality palpably evident in this Caribbean town. Hot pink dresses, jungle foliage, moody women and saturated canvasses. Represented by Saatchi art, Martha is a well-established artist on the international scene. Contact us to arrange a visit to her private studio located just beyond the walled city in El Cabrero. Or send her a WhatsApp message directly to +57 315 7316139 (she speaks perfect English! just please let her know you saw her on our page)

XOLO CANTILLO

Jorge "Xolo" Cantillo is a Barranquilla-born pop artist for Colombia's present day. He fuses the mass-media, mass-consumerism pop aesthetic with Colombian icons and a social/political commentary that has plenty to say. His work is sophisticated whilst maintaining tongue firmly in cheek. Original artworks start from about $1,000 USD. Snap him up while he's still relatively (velvety) underground, because he won't be for long.

Send us an email to see more/learn more.

DIANA HERRERA

Mega-talented Cartagena-born Diana Herrera Ordosgoitia blends themes exploring her love of world-travel with the restorative hedonism of her life in tropical Cartagena just as deftly as she mixes the mediums of her contemporary creations (colorful acrylics compete for canvas-space with more unusual supplies such as coffee). Her commissioned portraits are also super wow.

Visit her website at dianaherrerart.com/ to review her portfolio, buy art directly or to discuss commissioning your own work of art. Diana has also added limited edition art prints which are an even more affordable way to access her art. Canvasses and prints can be shipped throughout most of the world.

You can also contact her directly via WhatsApp on +57 314 650 8428

COLORFUL IDEAS by MALU CASTRO

Malu Castro was a poor Colombian student, studying in Buenos Aires when she visited the weekend flea market and encountered the "affordable art" of Claudio Gianni. Henceforth inspired, Malu aims to create affordable colorful pieces that can brighten the walls, homes and lives of everybody.

Experience the colorful world Malu sees around her; from the birdlife and seaside living of Cartagena to roadtrips, to the natural arid beauty of La Guajira. She paints on everything from canvas, salvaged timber, to bags and tshirts and prices. Prices start from about $50.

Malu normally exhibits in local fairs and markets however a private viewing of her works can be arranged through Cartagena Connections. Private commissions are also available upon request.

ART CARTAGENA

ROLL

ArtCartagena is a contemporary Art Gallery owned and curated by Norma Uparela. Previously based within the walled city, rising prices forced Norma to operate from her neighbourhood base, but she can arrange art viewing in Centro and send examples of current available works via WhatsApp messages. However you're going to need to speak Spanish.

If that's ok with you, you can access famed and local artists represented by Norma such as Alfredo Pineres, Ofelia Rodriguez and Pedro Ruiz minus the international mark-up.

Norma can be reached on +57 315 228 2432 via WhatsApp.
Karol (Roll) Salazar's art is both vibrant and moody.. always playing with light and shadow.. with fire/passion and restraint to create images that draw you in and have you seeking more.

She works with mixed media to interpret onto canvas (and even a giant sliding puzzle!) her friends, nature and life here in her hometown of Cartagena.

If you'd like to see more, just contact Cartagena Connections and we'll arrange a viewing.

ARNULFO LUNA

Cartagena-born and raised, Arnulfo Luna, is one of Colombia's most recognised artists. Painting for more than 50 years, he is most known for his hyper-realistic style, which sees reclining women, decomposing trucks and  street scenes depicted so accurately and with such minute detail, they appear to be photographs.

Contact Cartagena Connections if you’d like to take a closer look.
