MOTORBIKE TOURS
Explore beyond Cartagena's city limits and discover a world most tourists never get to experience - empty beaches, coastal trails, dirt roads winding through hills and remote villages. These are guided off-road tours that promise real riding, real terrain and really beautiful scenery, off the beaten track.
There are two different tours that can also have the potential to be customised according to your skill level.
Experience 1: Full Day Coastal Adventure Ride
Duration: All day tour (approximately 3.5 hours in the saddle) meet 8.30am and return 4.30pm
Price: 450,000 pesos pp (includes tax and insurance)
Skill level: beginner to intermediate
What's included: motorcycle, protective gear, fuel, lunch, hydration, SOAT insurance
What to bring: valid motorcycle licence, sunscreen, swimwear, long pants, closed shoes.
Description:
Meet at office at Bella Vista Hotel 8.30am for briefing and gear check. Departing by 9am. First leg is on tarmac, just long enough to get comfortable before branching off onto dirt tracks and secondary roads. Expect loose gravel, sand patches and a few rough spots that keep it interesting but aren't extreme. Late morning the landscape opens up as we reach the coast. There' a stretch where you ride right along the beach and you will pause briefly for views and photos. After about 3 hours of riding you will pull into a rustic finca for lunch right beside the sea (choice of fish, chicken or veggie pasta). Post lunch swim, chill in the hammock or just watch the waves. You will then begin the return trip, arriving back to Cartagena 4.30/5pm
Who is this tour for:
this is aimed at adventure travellers with some riding experience. You don't need to be a motocross pro, but you should know how to handle a manual bike and be comfortable riding for several hours. Total beginners are not a good fit.
Group size is small (max 4-5 riders plus guide) so the pace stays comfortable.

Description:
Meet at office at Bella Vista Hotel 8.30am ready set out for an adventure off the beaten path. Setting out at 9am you will have 40 minutes of highway before turning onto the tracks that lead toward Laguna de Luruaco. This lagoon, a 420 hectare lake sits in rolling hills and is the heart of a region famous for its culinary traditions. The off-road section is where the adventure begins: you will wind through villages whilst overtaking donkeys and mules. The roads vary between sandy, rocky and dirt terrain. Along the way you will stop at a scenic viewpoint for snack/water break. After a few more km you will reach the shores of Laguna de Luruaco. The town is proud of its food - and even hosts an annual festival celebrating the beloved arepa de huevo. You will lunch at a restaurant right on the water, choosing from traditional dishes. You will have the option of taking a quick dip in the lagoon before setting off again. In the afternoon you will continue climbing to higher ground, passing through more rural communities. The final stretch back to Cartagena is once again paved, giving you a welcome rest after all the trails. You will arrive back to the city around 5pm.
