TIERRA BLANCA ISLAND VILLA
,For a very special experience in the Rosario Islands, consider the very beautiful private villa that goes by the name Tierra Blanca.
Situated on Isla Grande in a private and peaceful alcove that includes a private sand beach and a fantastic reef just in-front perfect for snorkeling, this place is absolute paradise.
Although I try and visit all the islands that we recommend on this site, it's pretty rare that I am able to actually stay the night. Because, well, time and money. But I decided to splurge and was able to hire the master room at the house for a reduced rate, so now I am able to give a very first hand account of what your stay at Tierra Blanca can consist of.
So the house itself is very beautiful. Everything is clean and white with tasteful decor and feels modern and timeless. There are 3 rooms (with plans for more in the future) each with their own private bathroom, plus plenty of sunbeds and loungers and a large living room. The master bedroom has a beautiful outdoor shower and all rooms feature dreamy sea-views.
The in-house cook is seriously good. When we went, we brought along our groceries following Juan Felipe's recommendations (plantains, rice, stuff for salads etc) and purchased fresh seafood there straight from the fishermen. And OMG we ate like kings. Lobster and grilled octopus and coconut rice and all the trimmings. You can see some of my photos of all the deliciousness below. I think there may be the option for Juan Felipe to also do the shopping for you). Once we have confirmed availability for your dates we can put you in direct contact with Juan Felipe to finalize everything.
Juan Felipe, who speaks English, makes an amazing host and will communicate everything you need. He's on-hand to receive you at the house and explain the lay of the land. During your stay you can reach him with any questions, but be warned, signal at the house is very limited and you will probably have to go onto the dock to get any bars. That really didn't bother me at all, and really just added to the extreme relaxation. Staying on the premises with you will be the amazing cook and the butler (for want of a better word - he does everything and is amazing) José.
What to do?
This is fantastic option for both families, groups of friends and couples. Here's some of the activities we got into:
Snorkeling at the beautiful reef right in front
Sunbaking on loungers (yes it's bad for you, yes I still do it)
Reading/sleeping in the hammocks and shady waterfront beds (most relaxing place ever)
Swimming laps in the calm waters in front
Taking the canoes with local guide and touring through the mangroves and lagoons on the other side of the island.. you get to visit the most beautiful clear waters and take a swim, You could also pick fresh oysters off the mangroves. (we had to hire the canoe for about 20,000 pesos)
Swimming at night in the "Enchanted Lagoon" where you can see phosphorescent plankton (best when it isn't a full moon.. needs to be darker) (we paid the guide)
Eating so much delicious grilled seafood and golden plantains with guac
Boardgames and drinks
Going to the beach bar at Gente Del Mar which is just a couple of doors down for sunset drinks
Looking at all the stars
Playing our favorite songs on the amazing sound system (remember to have playlists already downloaded!)
Sleeping sooo well thank to see breezes, tired bodies and no electronics interference
You could also hire a boat to take you for a tour around the other islands or maybe for a trip to Playa Blanca.
Prices:
Hiring the full house
2,970,000 COP (low season)
3,850,000 COP (high season)
(If you are just 2 people, we can check for a lower rate for just the Master bedroom subject to it not bring high season and subject to the house not already being booked. This would probably be less ok for weekends, when the owners would hope to get the full rate.. but we can check)
Day pass
990,000 COP (1-12 people) 1,210,000 COP (13 or more people)
Use of installations, kitchen to prepare your meals, showers and toilet, facilities, hammocks, sunbeds and loungers etc (but not entry to and use of bedrooms)
1,760,000 COP (1-12 people) 2,420,000 COP (13 + people)
Use of everything above, plus use of bedrooms
Transport
The above prices don't include transport. The cheapest option would be to take the water taxis that leave from the dock at La Bodeguita in the morning, leaving about 9am. The taxi cost 35,000 pesos each way, plus the marine tax of 19,000 pesos.
Depending upon how many people you'll be, it might be worthwhile for Juan Felipe to arrange a private boat trip for you. Again, this is something we can investigate once we know the details of your booking.
