SUNSET STAND UP PADDLEBOARD
This is one of our most favourite and most special experiences. It's a bit active, a bit social, and a whole lot of nice.. paddleboarding into the sunset on the glass-like waters of Cartagena's bay. We meet about 4.45pm so we are ready and on the water by sunset. After some quick instructions, it's trial by water. Your instructor is Armando, Colombian national representative in Kitesurf and Stand-up Paddleboard and generally mega cool guy. You can bring along drinks and Armando will transport them in safety so that they are ready and chilled for when you've worked up a thirst. A glass of rosé actually on the water as the sun descends?? Priceless.
Well, almost. The price is actually 75,000 pesos per person and includes instruction and equipment. You will need to take transport to the meeting point in Castillogrande, on the beach diagonally opposite the Club Unión. COLOMBIA FLYBOARD
AGUAMAN!!! That was the first thing I shouted when I saw the incredible spectacle that is Colombia Flyboard. This dude was demonstrating superhero like skills as he flew through the air, dove like a dolphin into the sea and pirouetted like a pro.. followed by a trail of water as if he were a human rocket. How cool?!!
I later learned that what I was witnessing was Colombia Flyboard; an amazing watersport that is taking over the world! Basically it's like a wakeboard with waterpressured jets that propel you into the air and through the water.
Now I've been lucky enough to try out the Flyboard for myself and I can promise you it is just as much fun as it looks! Want to be a superhero? It's easy!
The instructors are super patient, professional and friendly and absolutely committed to ensuring your safety and comfort the entire time. They are also dedicated to making sure you fly and GUARANTEE that everybody will be able to get up and out of the water. Owner Manolo tells me that the youngest Flyboarder they have had was 6 years, and the oldest.. 69!
