BLUE APPLE BEACH HOUSE

PLAYA MAMON, BOCACHICA, TIERRA BOMBA

Many a time we've despaired over the best option to recommend for those who want to enjoy some beachy lifestyling. You want a nice beach; you don't want people harassing you to buy stuff every five seconds, you want good food options, good service, a great atmosphere, you don't really want five sound systems blaring music at you, you'd like fixed menu prices, not to get "ripped off", a nice selection of fellow guests, the possibility of being left completely alone in privacy, and a pool wouldn't go astray either.
It's not an unreasonable list of wants, but until now, Cartagena has come up very, very short.

But folks, we now have a frontrunner.

Blue Apple is a Beach House (yes! you can also stay the night! Ask us!) Beach Club/beach restaurant with amazing food, drink and service,  a private beach with zero vendors annoying you, an infinity edge pool, private volleyball court, fun wooden games, plush towels, cool music, and a bunch of other list-ticking features that make it our beach home away from home.

Blue Apple is located about 20 minutes away by boat on a private beach called Playa Mamon on the Island of Bocachica. To be fair, you don't get that incredible blue water that you get in the Rosario Islands or the whiter than white sand and blue water that you get in Playa Blanca.. so if these elements are important to you.. maybe look at the other options such as Gente del Mar, Islabela, Coralina, Bendita Beach Luxury Island or Playa Blanca or a private boat trip to do it all. If you want to know where we would recommend for some lux island time where the focus is on great food, service and facilities, this is our pick. This private destination is not open to the public, and is only available to members and their guests. Fortunately for you, Cartagena Connections is one of a limited number of Corporate Members, which means we can secure our clients a day-pass to visit and enjoy the best food and service in the islands.

Note: at time of booking, please let us know if you prefer your reserved sun lounge to be on the beach or beside the pool.

HOW IT WORKS

Day Passes

The members day pass is 90,000 pesos pp which includes transport, use of a towel, a daybed, pool, volleyball, plus good music and great service.
Food and drink is a la carte and there is a minimum spend of 100,000 pesos pp.

Facilities include:
Pool
Private Beach
Sun Loungers
Beach Volleyball
Kayak
Games area
Towel service

Additional activities:
Massage 30min 50,000 pesos
Massage 60 min 100,000 pesos
Horseriding 170,000 pesos
Stand up Paddleboard 10,000 pesos p/h
Scubadiving price on application (varies depending upon level/course)

The menu:
All made to order from fresh ingredients, sourced locally and sustainably wherever possible. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options available. Kosher menus available with advance bookings.
As a guide, dishes are priced from 30,000 pesos ($10) to 60,000 pesos ($20). Two courses with a glass of wine and optional tip will cost around 120,000 pesos ($40)
Wine is prices from 20,000 pesos ($7) a glass or 90,000 ($30) a bottle. Cocktails from 28,000 pesos ($9).

Rather than a fixed menu option like other destinations, Blue Apple have decided to allow guests the flexibility of choosing to eat and drink to their own tastes from the a la carte menu. It's all exceedingly tasty and well-presented, but we're particularly partial to the blue-cheese mussels, washed down with a summer-time rosé. All day. They also might just be in contention for world's best crunchy potatoes. Drool. Please note that Blue Apple has a minimum spend policy of 100,000 pesos per adult. It is prohibited to take your own food and drinks onto the property.

There are two boats departing daily at the very respectable times of 10am and midday from the dock in Manga (Marina Santa Cruz). NOTE: If your booking is from 17 February onwards, your departure dock will now be Gate 1, Muelle de la Bodeguitas (walking distance from Centro/Getsemani. You will need to bring 9,000 pesos pp in cash to pay the Tierra Bomba tourism tax. You will arrive at Blue Apple about 10.40am or 12.40pm. Please see more boat information in the images below. The return boats depart Blue Apple at 4pm or 5.30pm. You can request to be left at either Bocagrande, Centro or Manga.

To reserve your place please email, call or whatsapp Catalina at info@cartagenaconnections.com or +57 301 321 3533
At time of booking, please let us know if you prefer your reserved sun lounge to be on the beach or beside the pool.

Numbers are limited, so reservations are essential. Payment can be made directly to Blue Apple on the day. If you are booking for groups larger than 6 people, credit card details will be taken by Blue Apple in advance and a cancellation fee of 30,000 pesos pp will be charged if you cancel on the day.

Outside food and drink not permitted. Children are welcome during the week, but when the vibe is a bit more party on the weekends, Blue Apple keeps things child-free (this can potentially be negotiable)

If you arrive by private boat and want to use facilities (lounger and towel), there is a 30,000 pesos pp charge. If you arrive by private boat and just want to eat/drink at the restaurant and hang out in the common social areas there is no fee, but you will still need to make a reservation to ensure a table.

In summary, this is our recommendation for the best service and best food/drink in the islands in a beautiful, private setting with very good facilities and much closer and convenient than the Islas Rosarios options. If this ticks your boxes too, contact us to reserve your spot.
