Guided tours and cooking classes

DAY: group walking tours, market tours, food tours, Segway tours, photography tours, private tours, cooking tour

Although it would be nice to make this magical city your permanent home (like, ahem Kristy), most visitors to Cartagena have only a few precious days (or less!) to experience all the city has to offer. So what's the best way to get a true taste in a short time? Sure you can wander aimlessly in the streets of the old town, just soaking up the captivating ambiance (and this is something we definitely recommend!) But to really help put the sites, histories and culture in context, a guided tour with someone who actually lives here is a great starting point. Enter Cartagena Connections.

We aim to make our tours informative, fun and as non-touristy as possible. You won't be taken to "cultural centres" that are actually tacky souvenir shops (unless you want to be!); nor lumped onto a group table in a generic, feed-the-masses restaurant. You know the ones. Instead we're about providing a genuine shortcut to enjoying Cartagena like a local. We want you to feel as though you are spending time with a savvy-friend, rather than a formal tour guide. As such the tours we provide are customizable depending upon your interests and time restraints. For example:

  • Is Gabriel Garcia Marquez your favourite author and you want to see and hear about all the sites and histories of Cartagena that inspired novels like Love in the Time of Cholera and Love and Other Demons? Ok! No problem!
  • Did you watch Anthony Bourdain when he came to Cartagena, and want to follow in his footsteps? Mercado Bazurto, Ceviche, Tierra Bomba? Sure! We can do that!
  • Want to tick off all the museums, monuments and cathedrals? Tick, tick, tick!
  • Not much fussed with museums but really want to know the best places to buy souvineers, fashion, art, handcrafts? Shop with a local!
Connect now and together we can customise a private tour to suit you. Otherwise, we offer group tours and also put you in touch with other specialist tour operators for the Segway and Photography Tours. Explore the options in our DAY drop-down menu or check out some of the experiences listed below.
