​Another winner in the small, but exceedingly satisfying category, is the local favourite Mondo.Ideally located a few doors down from Alquimico, you'll feel right at home almost immediately thanks to the warm energy of lead bartenders Joe (aka Chatty Joe) and Juan Camilo.

This isn't just any old cocktail bar either; the team whips up some very sophisticated drinks. Try Alma Gemela for gin-based refreshment, El Paraiso for a sour with a local twist, or Buñuelito de Maiz for a surprising combo of corn infused bourbon with corozo wine and garnished with costeño cheese.

The space is intimate and inviting, perfect mood lighting and candles and the type of bar vibe where you end up making friends with all your drinking neighbours.

But wait, there's more! A secret upstairs bar that goes by the evocative name of Slow Death. Definitely worse ways to go.

A food menu is in the works, but in the meantime, the team will hook you up with sushi + poke bowls from nearby Rincon or the best New York style pizza, Zazzy's, without you having to leave your barstool.
