You will learn about the entire process from growing to roasting to serving, from some of the most passionate and well-equipped barristas you are ever likely to meet. You'll also get to know the true story behind that famous man with the mustache, Juan Valdez and why barrista prepared coffee is only a relatively new addition to the Colombian food and drink scene.

COFFEE EXPERIENCE Al MURÁL

After growing frustrated with attempts to be successful in his chosen career, former engineer David turned instead to the family business and his forever passion of coffee, opening a tiny café in a hidden alleyway in Getsemaní. HE may have changed jobs, but you he's proof you can't take the engineering out of the engineer. Everything reflects his systematic training and methodology: from the menu, the steam gerni he uses to disinfect cups before serving, and all the gizmos and gadgets he utilizes to create the perfect cup. And then there is the coffee tasting experience he has created to share all his knowledge and experiments with curious visitors.
The Coffee Tasting Experience can be booked Monday to Saturday, with 2 main options available. Please send us an email to [email protected] with which option you are interested in, how many people, and preferred start time.
For groups of 6 and above, you can nominate any start time you prefer.
Morning Coffee Tasting Experience
start time: 9am/9.30am/10am
Duration: 2 hours
Price: 130,000 pesos pp
It includes:
Education and history of Coffee with a focus on the Colombian experience
participation where you roast your own coffee beans
three types of different coffees prepared using distinct methods
Your own 100g bag of coffee to take with you
Private entry to the cafe outside of business hours.
Afternoon Coffee Tasting Experience
Book your start time between 3pm to 8pm
Duration: 1 hour
Price: 80,000 pesos pp
It includes:
the same as above but without the opportunity to roast your own coffee beans. It also therefore has a shorter duration time (just 1 hour) and the tasting takes place in usual trading hours.

An alternative coffee experience is offered by our friends at El Barón: connoisseurs in the finer things in life and the most fastidious purveyors of quality. They insist on the very best ingredients and processes in all that they do - from cocktails to coffee and by popular demand have created a coffee experience to instill in their apprentices a true appreciation for Colombian coffee. The coffee experience is conducted in a practical and interactive manner, passing step by step through the entire process in coffee production.
Coffee Tasting Experience
Price: 125,000 pesos pp
Duration: 90 minutes
When: Can be booked for any day/time.
It includes:
Beginning with a welcome drink of iced tea made from coffee peel, you will start to get to know the coffee plant, its morphology and the entire history surrounding coffee.
Next you will extract the pulp from the coffee cherry, then toast it, grind it and prepare a coffee using the Chemex method (filtration).
As you prepare your own coffee from bean to cup, you will have 3 different types of coffee to taste and compare whilst analysing possible defects in the process that can affect the overall result.
To end, you will taste the same coffee prepared in 2 different ways to observe the impact the method of preparation can have on the way the coffee can taste.
You will have the option to purchase bags of El Baron's preferred Colombian coffee that is used during the experience to take home with you.
